Picture This

(c) Bob Gruen

One of my favorite thrift store finds is Blondie's Parallel Lines on vinyl. There's something incredibly rewarding about unearthing such a gem amongst the racks and piles of discarded household items and clutter (aka crap). The hours of searching and scouring store after store all feel worthwhile when you walk away with that one item you can't wait to incorporate into your own collection, wardrobe, vintage shop or whatever the case may be. Needless to say, this
record has been getting regular play on my turntable ever since.

The other day I found myself searching for photos of the 70's NYC punk scene. I noticed that I was particularly drawn to photos of Blondie's gorgeous front woman, Debbie Harry. She has such an amazing energy and air about her, not to mention a worship-worthy fashion sense. Here are some of my favorites:

Big shoes!

So currently, I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of wedges. The ones I've seen are just ridiculously high and I don't know about you, but my feet just can't handle shoes like that anymore. I blame it on the Florida weather and the years and years of wearing flip flops incessantly. Maybe I should just start wearing super high heels around the house and put my feet through a "platform boot camp". Of course, I'm obsessed with anything that Jeffrey Campbell puts out. I'm always hoping for a Jeffrey Campbell sale on my coveted members-only sites. They're like online samples sales. I frequent about 8 of them. Yes, its a little excessive, but its like window-shopping -- online. I have never actually bought anything because I'm just squeamish about buying clothes online, but I will bite the bullet one day...I swear. Here's links to those members-only sites if you're not already checking them out.

HauteLook
Gilt
RueLaLa
ideeli
Beyond the Rack
Billion Dollar Babes
Editor's Closet
Swirl by DailyCandy

Some of these sites also have travel deals as well. They are a bit on the luxurious side (ie. pricey), but if you're into that sort of thing, the places are fantastic. Most of these sites require you to be put on a waiting list before you can gain access, but I don't remember any of them being that long of an actual wait.

Oh, so back to wedges. Here are the ones that I've got my eyes on. I actually have my eyes on a lot more, but in the essence not overloading your browser, here's a few:

Jeffrey Campbell - Mary Roks

Jeffrey Campbell - Miracle

Jeffrey Campbell - Pixie

Jeffrey Campbell - Xenon

Seychelles - Twistin the Night Away

I think that's enough of my fantasy for now. Happy hump day!

Alchemy Salon Spring Lookbook

We've been fans of Alchemy Hair Salon for quite some time now, so we were delighted that they released a Spring Lookbook featuring the hair and styling of some of their talented stylists. The looks they chose are "feminine, yet masculine," mixing soft feminine textures and military-inspired accessories. Can't wait to see what they have in mind for fall!

P.S. How great are the hand shredded pieces? We can't get enough of them! They are made locally by A Rare Bird.

Oh Rainy Monday

A rainy Monday and another working week indoors -- we'd much rather be doing this:

We Love Our Tights!

Living in Florida, the cool winter temperatures don't last very long and summer seems to arrive before spring even starts. This year we've been fortunate to have gorgeous weather well into April. With warmer temperatures just around the corner, we've been desperately holding on to the last days of our tights, getting as much use out of them before the humidity sets in.

VousLaLa Vintage Photo Shoot & Big Thanks to Kristyn!

Today we had a great photo shoot for VousLaLa Vintage! We changed it up a bit with a guest model, the gorgeous Kristyn. Girl rocked some of the looks hard and we're dying to share them with you (think white leather mini and strapless 70's gown). Huge thanks K!

We changed it up a bit with the location too. Nothing too fancy, but a change of scenery was nice. The skies were overcast all day, however, we still managed to get some great photos. We should be posting at least 10 new items soon. We're still pretty amazed at how many items we've photographed, yet how many we still need to list...it doesn't help that we keep shopping, but hey, that's our favorite part! =)

Here's a preview of what's to come:
